How The Revel Started

The Red River Revel, winner of the 1988 President’s Volunteer Action Award, began in 1976 as the Junior League of Shreveport’s Bicentennial gift to the citizens of the region. The goal of the festival is to provide the general populace a celebration of the finest visual and performing arts experiences.

Volunteers Make It Happen

Each year since 1976, this nonprofit arts festival has united people throughout the area to both enjoy the arts, as well as volunteer their time to make The Revel possible. Revel 2009 involved the diligent work from more than 10,000 volunteers who contributed almost 160,000 hours to manage the festival’s activities. It was a tremendous success and attracted thousands of people to this eight-day outdoor arts festival. Sign up to volunteer online »
