Shreveport Farmers' Market is currently held under the pavilions at Festival Plaza in Downtown Shreveport. That's 101 Crockett St. where Crockett St. and Commerce St. intersect.
As a covered market, with ceiling fans for the hottest days, our market takes place "rain or shine." The only time we'll close is in the case of a major weather warning issued by the National Weather Service.
With seating, shade, and bathrooms on site, Festival Plaza is a great place for our market.
Our Saturday morning summer dates run from approximately Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day weekend. We also have a Fall Market running from late October to the weekend before Thanksgiving. For exact dates, see our website banner.
The mission of Shreveport Farmers' Market is to encourage a strong local food system; increase sustainability of independent local farmers, ranchers, and food producers; and foster stewardship of land and community through public markets.
We seek to provide a forum creating cooperation among farmers, other vendors, and our community, while educating consumers, offering a market for farmers to sell their goods, serving as a business incubator for food artisans, and bring together people from the Northwest Louisiana, Far East Texas, and Southern Arkansas region.
We are a Growers-Only Market, with all our farmers coming from within a 100 mile radius with only two exceptions, grandfathered in from previous rules. Farmers may supplement, with the manager's approval, up to 5% of their produce for the convenience of our shoppers. Additionally, traditional Louisiana products like cane syrup, rice, seafood, Satsuma oranges, etc., may be sold with the manager's approval, if unavailable locally.
There are accessible public restrooms on site, underneath the Spring Street Bridge. At the Information Tower, we have ice available for shoppers and vendors, and a full array of Shreveport Farmers' Market branded shirts, hats, and bags to show your support of our market.
Many of our vendors accept food coupons from the Louisiana Farmers' Market Senior Nutrition Program and the WIC Program. For participating vendors, look for the yellow CERTIFIED signs. For more information on the Senior program, contact Caddo Council on Aging. We also accept SNAP (formerly Food Stamps.) Just stop by The Info Tower to slide your card, and receive tokens to spend with our many participating vendors. They can be found on your smart phone or computer by visiting "vendors" and sorting it by "accepts SNAP."
