I specialize in Mixed Media
Since starting “Art by Sarah-Katherine Semon” in 2017, it has been a goal of mine to help my collectors celebrate every part of their life through art. An abstract, textured, and gold-leafed nativity scene on a piece of cut and stained wood, sealed with resin, was the piece that started my art venture. It is, to this day, the inspiration behind all of the pieces I create. From Christmas to Mardi Gras and Easter to Fall, my art is heavily influenced by the Holidays and Seasons we celebrate. I strive to create unique pieces that represent Holidays and Seasons in a fresh, new way.
As a Shreveport native, Louisiana and all things local also play a huge role in my art. Whether it be an LSU Nutcracker or an Oyster ornament, there will always be a touch of my heritage in my art.
My pieces start with wood planks that I cut accordingly, they are then stained and the background is painted with acrylic paint. One aspect my art will almost always contain is texture. Whether it be textured paint or multi-layered wood and canvas, my creations have dimension. Gold leaf is also a large part of my art, I use liquid gold leaf and sheets of gold leaf to make my pieces shine. All of my pieces are finished with Epoxy Resin to protect and enhance.
While wood pieces are my staple, I do not shy away from canvas. Whether my pieces are created on wood or canvas they will always have the texture and dimension I love so much and sealed with resin. I create small table top pieces as well as large wall hanging pieces. As an artist it is important to me that I create art for everyone, I love to bring the joy my art brings me to the people that collect my pieces.
