My artistic method has developed over time. Beautiful wildlife has inspired me my whole life growing up around the bayous of the Gulf Coast. I create oil paintings of coastal wildlife. Recently, I’ve started to mix in other mediums to create a 3D effect. I want my subject to give the illusion that it’s about to leap, fly or swim off the canvas. It starts with an acrylic textured background on stretched canvas, then shades of colors are added with mica pigment. I finish by pouring epoxy resin or polyurethane over the painting. My next step is to create an oil painting of the subject, which usually is wildlife. The end result has a lot of depth and texture. Woodworking has also become a passion of mine. I build all of my frames from up-cycled materials. I love to make beautiful things out of wood that mostly goes wasted. All of my originals are framed, signed, and numbered. I paint for nostalgia and my style is always evolving through experimentation and life experiences.
