I began joining decorative painting groups, but soon evolved to using my own original designs freehand on a variety of surfaces, then to original works on canvas. Much of my painting is based on memories of the beauty surrounding me growing up in rural Louisiana and spending a great deal of time in outdoor activities. There were not a lot of photographs taken then, so I seldom have reference photographs, and sadly, many of the places I recall no longer exist. Other paintings incorporate symbols, frequently of hope, to try to bring positive energy wherever they are shared, or just to make a statement even when I am not there to speak my piece. I also love to create painted decorative items and accessories, including jewelry, guitatrs, and seasonal decor. I have been greatly encouraged by receiving some positive critical review and placing in award categories in several exhibitions. My husband jokes that I paint on anything that doesn't run away fast! In order to share my work in different formats, I have also found sources that reproduce my original work in excellent quality on functional items such as ceramic ornaments, prints, and mugs, in order to allow a wider range of buyers to own a piece of original art straight from the artist.
